Senior Analyst / Associate – Power & Utilities M&A

Our client, a Tier 1 global independent investment bank, is looking to make a double hire at the Senior Analyst and Associate levels within its Power & Utilities M&A team in New York.
The team advises corporate clients, financial sponsors, infrastructure investors, utilities, IPPs and energy transition platforms across a broad range of strategic transactions. This includes sell-side and buy-side M&A, capital raises, strategic advisory, carve-outs, platform investments and structured transactions across the power, utilities and broader energy infrastructure landscape.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will support the execution of M&A and strategic advisory mandates across the Power & Utilities sector. Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the execution of live M&A transactions, including sell-side, buy-side, carve-out and strategic advisory processes.
- Preparing valuation analysis, including DCF, trading comparables, precedent transaction analysis, LBO-style analysis and sum-of-the-parts valuation where relevant.
- Building and maintaining detailed financial models, operating models and transaction analysis.
- Preparing client materials, including pitch books, management presentations, information memoranda, buyer/investor lists, process letters and board materials.
- Conducting sector, company and transaction research across power generation, regulated utilities, renewables, storage, grid infrastructure, IPPs and broader energy transition themes.
- Coordinating due diligence workstreams and supporting interaction with clients, counterparties, advisers and investors.
- Supporting senior bankers in the origination and execution of new business opportunities.
- For Associate-level candidates, taking greater ownership of workstreams, managing Analysts, reviewing financial analysis and helping drive day-to-day execution.
Candidate Profile
Candidates should have a strong background in investment banking, corporate finance, M&A advisory or a highly relevant transaction-focused environment. Prior exposure to Power & Utilities, Energy, Infrastructure or Renewables is strongly preferred.
Ideal candidates will bring:
- Senior Analyst or Associate-level experience from an investment bank, M&A advisory firm, infrastructure advisory team or relevant sector-focused platform.
- Strong technical skills across valuation, financial modelling, accounting and transaction analysis.
- Experience supporting or executing M&A transactions, ideally across Power, Utilities, Infrastructure, Energy Transition or Renewables.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality client-facing materials.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced transaction environment.
- A proactive, commercial and intellectually curious approach.
- The ability to work closely with senior stakeholders while also managing internal execution responsibilities.
- For Associate candidates, prior experience managing junior team members and coordinating workstreams would be highly advantageous.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic background.
- Strong academic record.
- Prior investment banking, M&A, corporate finance or transaction advisory experience.
- Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and financial modelling skills.
- Strong understanding of valuation methodologies and corporate finance principles.
- Power & Utilities, Infrastructure, Energy or Renewables exposure preferred.
- New York-based or willing to relocate.
