Overview
A leading global investment banking advisory firm is seeking an experienced Investment Banking Associate to join its Financial Restructuring Group in New York. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated banking professional to join a collaborative, fast-paced platform with significant transaction exposure, lean deal teams, and direct access to senior bankers and clients.
The Associate will play a key role in the execution of M&A advisory, capital markets, strategic advisory, and valuation assignments for clients across the financial services sector. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a demanding transaction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the execution of live transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, capital raises, restructurings, strategic advisory assignments, and other investment banking mandates.
- Build and maintain complex financial models, including valuation analyses, merger models, accretion/dilution analyses, trading comparables, precedent transactions, and discounted cash flow analyses.
- Prepare client presentations, pitch materials, information memoranda, management presentations, buyer lists, and other transaction-related materials.
- Conduct company, industry, and market research across the financial institutions sector.
- Assist with due diligence processes, including organizing materials, reviewing data room information, coordinating with internal and external parties, and tracking deliverables.
- Work closely with senior bankers, clients, legal counsel, investors, and other transaction stakeholders.
- Mentor and review work prepared by Analysts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and high-quality deliverables.
- Take ownership of workstreams and help manage timelines across multiple active engagements.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of investment banking experience, ideally within M&A, capital markets, restructuring, or financial institutions coverage.
- Prior experience working with financial services clients is strongly preferred.
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, analytical, and technical skills.
- Experience preparing client-ready presentations and transaction materials.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Strong academic background; Bachelor’s degree required.
- MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus, but not required.
