Role Description
North Castle is seeking an Associate to join the Investment Team located in New York, NY. This person will be a full member of the investment team and an integral member of new deal and portfolio monitoring teams. All teams are typically staffed with a Partner, Principal / Vice President, and Associate, but in certain instances Associates will work directly with Partners which provides the Associate with complete access to all levels of the organization and tremendous responsibility and room to grow.
This person will spend their time in three general categories: (i) new company diligence and transaction execution, (ii) portfolio company monitoring and management, and (iii) internal initiatives. New deal diligence and execution will represent a meaningful portion of an individual’s experience and be comprised of the following broad areas:
- New deal research, diligence, and screening process including primary and third-party research and meeting with prospective targets, industry experts and potential executives;
- Detailed modeling and financial analyses;
- Coordination of business and third-party due diligence processes;
- Written correspondence with non-deal team members for deal approval process;
- Coordination and execution of the debt financing process;
- Development of relationships with management; and
- Development of an operating blueprint for strategic post-closing support
The North Castle approach to private equity is to be a hands-on, value-added investor and therefore we spend a meaningful amount of our time working with our portfolio companies in various ways. Portfolio company monitoring and management is often the most rewarding part of the job. Like other members of the team, the Associate will endeavor to create meaningful relationships with all members of senior management. Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining a regular dialogue with management and keeping the broader NCP team up-to-speed on developments in the business;
- Regularly monitoring financial performance;
- Evaluating add-on acquisitions and other value-added opportunities;
- Assisting management with the implementation of the operating blueprint; and,
- Acting as a liaison between management and debt financing sources.
Qualifications
A candidate MUST have 2 or more years of Investment Banking or Private Equity, or in certain instances Management Consulting, experience with a specific interest in the health and wellness space and lifestyle a plus. We are looking for someone who is flexible and can play the role of junior team member one day and work directly with Partners the next.
