Job Purpose:
To support the activities of the Wholesale Banking team by providing analytical reports detailing the financial and commercial performance and prospects of existing and potential corporate and financial institution clients in the Americas. Work with Relationship Managers to develop a consensus view on the risk/reward of each client/transaction in order to maximize revenue opportunities while adhering to Group credit standards.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation and delivery of credit applications, interim reviews, annual reviews and administrative notifications with respect to corporate and financial institution clients in accordance with NY Branch policy.
- Prepare detailed and accurate credit analysis on existing and potential clients, as directed. Such analysis to include the spreading of financial statements using Moody’s Risk Analyst software.
- Ensure the smooth, efficient and effective flow of the credit review process as part of the Wholesale Banking team.
- Coordinate and collaborate Relationship Manager(s) and other members of the Wholesale Banking team to develop a consensus view on the credit position and prospects of each existing or potential client while maintaining the quality of the overall credit portfolio.
- Liaison with Credit teams in NY and Head Office to answer queries and provide updated and accurate information on the credit portfolio.
- Maintain credit files with respect to corporate and Financial Institutions clients
- Prepare reports related to exposures, industries and risk ratings, as required
- As requested, attend client meetings with Relationship Managers, review the publication of quarterly financial statements and earnings calls to monitor changing credit conditions of existing/target clients and recommend action as and when appropriate.
- Proactively seek to establish and maintain contact with diverse sources of credit information relevant to the branch’s credit portfolio (e.g. rating agencies, other banks etc.) and report relevant information to Wholesale Banking team.
- In conjunction with Credit Department and Wholesale Banking, prepare Quarterly Portfolio Review and other materials required by Risk Committee.
- Support Wholesale Banking Relationship Managers as required in the preparation and submission of compliance data with respect to existing/prospect clients.
Knowledge: Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, and related financial statements. Working knowledge of various bank products and services, ability to monitor and interpret industry/market trends. Solid analytical and report-writing skills, experience working under pressure with tight deadlines. Works well independently or as a team player. Process driven/good time management.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree, formal credit training
Experience: 3+ years as a Credit Analyst
