Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Credit Analyst to join our Credit Department. This role is ideal for individuals looking to grow their career in commercial banking and credit analysis. The Junior Credit Analyst will support the underwriting and portfolio management process by conducting credit investigations, preparing financial analyses, and ensuring compliance with loan conditions.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Credit Investigation and Analysis:
- Conducts in-depth credit investigation, evaluation and analysis of credit worthiness of commercial and consumer loan customers.
- Investigates credit history of customers by ordering credit reports from Experian, Dun & Bradstreet, Data Quick, and other references
- Prepares financial spreads.
- Assists in Preparation of Preflight and Credit Presentations.
- Evaluates information and completes credit write-ups for renewals and new loans, as requested and identified by lending officers.
- Establish and Maintain Credit Files:
- Ensures that customer credit information, such as loan application, financial statements, tax information, credit history from TRW, Dun & Bradstreet and other trade references, deposit account information letters are incorporated in the file and is up-to-date.
- Ensures that follow-up customer is obtained in a timely manner.
- Ensures financial statements are current and in accordance with loan agreements.
- Follows existing credit line relationships to insure compliance with loan conditions.
- Reviews maturing loan report and coordinates with Account Officer in the notification of customer for credit renewals.
- Assist the Senior Underwriters and Relationship Managers in preparation for compliance and safety and soundness exams.
- Prepares and send out renewal notification letters to customers, signed by Loan Officers requesting updated credit information and financial statements, as necessary.
- Ensures that all loan covenants are adhered to and that all required customer information is obtained in a timely manner. Notify account office and Loan Administration of any covenant violations.
- Evaluate loans for changes in risk and make recommendations on any risk rating changes.
- Assist Asset Based Credit Analyst to insure collateral reviews (i.e. audits and monthly borrowing certificates) are performed on a timely basis.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
- Works with and coordinates with other Credit Analysts on special projects.
- Organize loan files for storage and retrieval of electronic copies. Manage Ticklers
- Coordinate with the Note Department to request loan documents and assist Senior Underwriters and Relationship Managers in loan closings.
- Participate in various training meetings as necessary. Assist Senior Underwriters and Relationship Managers in educating other loan staff in compliance and safety and soundness topics.
Minimum Qualifications

- Preferred: concurrent enrollment in Business/Accounting/Economics or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: strong financial or accounting background, education, or experience.
- Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills; positive attitude with team-player approach.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize work assignments; detail oriented with flexibility in dealing with a changing work environment, customer service oriented and a strong sense of urgency.
- Computer literate in Windows, Word, Excel software.
